Growing up feeling different can be an isolating experience, intensifying feelings of paranoia, especially without a confidant to share those struggles. I guess I wasn't overtly "gay acting" in my youth, despite my internal thoughts screaming my queerness. Observing how people reacted to flamboyant individuals or effeminate men often left me feeling exposed; the whispers and snide comments made my heart race, as if they were directed at me. I became hyper-aware of conversations around anything remotely related to being gay, fearing they would turn into discussions about my own identity immediately after I left the room.

This heightened sensitivity fueled my determination to create a better environment for others, particularly for my characters, Tay and Third. I wanted them to be surrounded by a diverse community that embraced differences, fostering acceptance rather than judgment, ensuring they would never feel as alone in their journeys as I often did.
